“Equally as important for a full life is the enjoyment of good food, something that many people believe is not possible while eating healthy. This has all lead me to where I am today…”
First Blog post… here we go!
Let me introduce myself and share what I am doing here on this corner of the internet first day of class style. Hi, my name is Kaylee and I am based out of Southern California and one fun fact about me is I love to eat (shocker, I know!) Thus my journey of posting about food on the internet began. Well, not quite. A lot has happened in between to bring me here, so let’s get started.
As a kid I had a revolving door of ideas regarding what I wanted to do when I grew up, as most kids do. However, as I got older I had the consistent desire to go into the medical field. I wasn’t really sure in what capacity I wanted that to be but I knew I wanted to help people. After researching my options I came across the title “Registered Dietitian” and was immediately interested. Feeding patients for proper recovery and health sounded fascinating so, as I entered college I began my journey in studying nutrition. As I learned more, I saw the connection between food and health outcomes growing larger and realized how big of a role a proper diet could play in disease prevention. I wanted to teach people how to change eating habits before they ended up in the hospital. This led me to making the decision to attend the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and get my certificate for Holistic Health Coaching along with the Bachelor’s degree I was working towards. It would be soon that I would become all too familiar with the impact of disease as my grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer. This cancer would go on to take her from this world in her 50s and cement my desire to be on the path to learn and teach people how to live a healthy lifestyle so that they would have the chance to live as long as possible before they began seeing health complications. Cancer does not always discriminate, but there are a lot of diseases that do. This is what makes proper eating and a healthy lifestyle so important for longevity and day to day vitality.
And yes. Longevity and vitality is incredibly important for a full life but let’s move on to something a little bit lighter and circle back to my fun fact I shared: I love to eat! Equally as important for a full life is the enjoyment of good food, something that many people believe is not possible while eating healthy. This has all lead me to where I am today, creating programs that promote a way of eating that is not only healthy but allows you to still enjoy food, posting videos that inspire home cooking, starting a holistic health/recipe blog, and selling goods with simple and clean ingredients that you can trust. That was a mouthful, but what I have created really is the perfect combination of the things I am passionate about and enjoy. I am so excited for you to be a part of this community and hope it serves as encouragement to have fun with food and appreciate all it can do for our wellbeing, physical and mental!
